Location: Joseph Black Building, University Pl, Glasgow G12 8QQ
Zone: 2
Project Overview:
The objective of the project was to create a shared facility that would enable cutting-edge analytical services across the College of Science and Engineering (CoSE) and University.
The project enable a facility equipped with existing and new equipment, providing a wide range of services. The project included a new x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) system & an electron diffractometer (ED) – the result of successful Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) strategic equipment bids. This equipment was procured by the College of Science and Engineering.
The project undertook room refurbishments to both accommodate the new and existing equipment, and to create an analytical hub – designed to foster shared use across the university and industry engagement.
The analytical suite will provide both equipment and trained operators to help staff utilise the service in an effective and efficient manner. This will be accessible across the University and will support research outcomes from groups across multiple schools and colleges. This may support future grant applications, creating a shared resource hub will foster efficient use of equipment – improving the sustainability of the facility.
